Russell Standard is proud to announce that it was awarded the 2025 Pennsylvania Association of Asphalt Material Applicators (PAAMA) Excellence in Asphalt Application Award. This prestigious award recognizes leaders for outstanding contributions to the asphalt industry and highlights companies that advance standards, innovate, improve efficiency, and contribute to a sustainable infrastructure future.

The Challenge

With more than 318,000 square yards of restoration needed throughout Jefferson Township, Leo Rosenbauer, Township Manager, required the right course of action to accomplish a monumental feat. The project scope called for different asphalt applicators to address heavy oxidation and severe cracking from high traffic volume. With the assistance of Russell Standard, Rosenbauer decided on a four-part seal coat project that consisted of:

  • Single seal with CRS-2P (143,830 square yards)
  • FiberMat® with CRS-2P (5,887 square yards)
  • Asphalt Fog Seal with CSS-1HP (1;1) (149,717 square yards)
  • Emulsified Asphalt Sealer with GBS-88 (1:1) 2% Polymer (19,022 square yards)
Resident Impact

The four-part seal coat project not only addressed multiple asphalt deteriorations throughout Jefferson Township but also provided an extension of pavement life.

Jefferson Township has and will continue to strive to provide its residents with the best possible infrastructure road system,” Rosenbauer said. “Not only is the Township providing a high standard of roads, but they are also within budget each year for the repair and maintenance of these roads. This course of action saves the taxpayers’ money, which can be allocated elsewhere.

Results

Due to the extension of pavement life, Jefferson Township can increase the quantity of roads treated each year. Russell Standard was also awarded the PAAMA Excellence in Asphalt Award for the project.
